Girls Soccer

Varsity: Central Valley 1, Pitman 1

The Lady Hawks battled to a 1-1 tie with the Pitman Pride on Friday night.  This moves the Hawks pre-season record to 2-2-2 with another challenging matchup tonight at Turlock High against the Bulldogs.  CV will then begin WAC play this week with games against Grace Davis on Tuesday (away) and Pacheco (home-River Bluff) on Thursday.  The Hawks are the returning WAC Champions and will be a top team in league.  In the early Section rankings, the Lady Hawks are ranked #5 in Division I

 

Varsity Boys Basketball

Varsity @ Gallo Invitational (hosted by Central Catholic)

Friday: McNair 77, Central Valley 70

Saturday: Central Valley 51 Calaveras 48

The Hawks split a couple of games at the Gallo Invitational this weekend which moved their pre-season record to 5-4 overall.  In the loss on Friday night, the Hawks connected on 14 3-pointers.  The CV leading scorers were Silas Rodriguez (19 pts), Jace McLennon (12 pts), Michael Martinez (11pts), David Gutierrez (10 pts), and Blake Silva (8pts).  In the CV win on Saturday, the top scorers were David Gutierrez (14 pts), Jaylan Tagadaya (9pts), and Xavier Manor( 8 pts). The Hawks will next travel to Hughson this Tuesday to battle the Huskies followed by games at Turlock High Thursday night and Escalon on Friday. 

 

F/JV Boys Basketball (from Merced Tournament)

JV (Friday): Central Valley defeats Stone Ridge Christian

JV (Saturday): Grace Davis defeats Central Valley

Frosh (Friday): Patterson defeats Central Valley

Frosh (Saturday): Central Valley defeats Pitman

The lower level boys basketball teams played in the Merced Tournament over the weekend and both team split their games.  The Frosh and JV teams will travel to Downey tonight to take on the Knights.

Varsity @ Clovis Tournament

Friday: Santa Maria 4, Central Valley 0

Saturday: Central Valley 1, Liberty-Bakersfield 1

The Hawks continue the grind of their challenging pre-season schedule as CV is still looking for their first win.  The Hawks were able to pick up another tie against Liberty of Bakersfield 1-1 on Saturday.  Event without a win, the Hawks are ranked #17 in Division I and currently have the highest rated strength of schedule in the Section.  This will be a busy and important week of the Hawks as they take on 4 opponents.  CV will travel to Atwater tonight, followed by hosting Grace Davis (Tues), at Golden Valley (Wed), and at Pacheco (Thurs). 

 

Varsity Girls Basketball

Turlock 31, Central Valley 21

The Hawks battled, but could not put together enough offense to match the Turlock Bulldogs on Friday night.  CV will look to get in the win column this Tuesday when they travel to Denair to take on the Coyotes. 

 

Boys Wrestling

The Varsity Hawks competed in the highly competitive Riddle Classic at Oakdale this Saturday.  CV finished 21st overall in a field of 37 teams.  The only placer for the Hawks was 6th place by 132-Rotceh Mendez.  The JV Hawks traveled to Atwater’s Bristow Brawl and came away with several placers which are listed below:
